Frequent Asked Questions
FAQ
I already play for a Club team on Sundays. Will I be able to play for Elite Soccer Club as well?
Yes. Many of our players also play for a Club team on Sundays. We train every sunday but attendance at training is never compulsory. Because we train in the morning and afternoon on Sundays at Government College Secondary School Eric Moore Surulere Lagos, you could even choose to just come to one session if you don't want to miss out altogether. We don't play many matches in Nigeria because we know how busy most of our players are, not just with soccer, but other sports too. Remember our season also starts later than most Club teams and carries on until the International tournaments in July.
What time is training?
Training takes place every Sundays. We run two sessions. The first is 11.00-13.00. The second is 13.30-15.30. Players are welcome to attend both (and bring a packed lunch), or just attend one session or neither! Training is always voluntary, but we are sure that once you've experienced what African Stars Elite Soccer offers, you'll want to come to as many sessions as possible!
Where do you train?

Yes. we recognises that goalkeepers need specialist coaching. Extra one-on-one sessions are arranged with a specialist N.I.S qualified goalkeeping coach.
Do you play 11-a-side with both age groups?
No. The Under 12 squad play 7-a-side. The Under 13s play 11-a-side.
Why do you play 7-a-side with the Under 12 squad?
Smaller sided games allow greater development of players. In 7-a-side games, players receive more touches of the ball and increased participation. Fewer players on the pitch means simpler decisions for the players and better understanding. By using smaller pitches, players have to worry less about tiredness and keep greater concentration and ability levels. All coaching is still focused on learning to play 11-a-side football, and everything the players are taught at this age category applies in 11-a-side. However, the players are able to learn these skills much more effectively in a small-sided game environment.
Do you organise any social events for the player?
Yes. It is important that the players get to know each other away from the training pitch. During the season we organise a number of social events for the players. The highlight of the social calendar is The End of Season Dinner. This is an experience the players won't easily forget! The black tie (shirt and tie for players) event includes dinner, entertainments and an awards ceremony at one of the premier hotels in the Surulere Local Government Area Lagos, Nigeria.
Are the Regional Clubs affiliated to their local FA?
Yes, African Stars Sports International clubs are affiliated to Our local FA.
